How do you prove the existence of your inner voice?

How can you prove your communications with God or your ancestors? 

Well, I’ve been asked in one of my comments to back up the things that I say.  So here goes;

Astrology was introduced to me by my husband, Kwame Adansi-Bona.  I suppose, I may not have really believed in this science when he first told me that he wanted to do my Astrology Chart.  But, after he cast my chart with the planets arranged on the computer screen around a circle divided into 12, what he then said to me changed my outlook on life and the way I looked at myself.  In fact perhaps, this single encounter set me on a journey to fully know myself and challenge the unsuccessful, unproductive and harmful traits that I’d adopted along the way.  And ya know what……all he told me was that I balance and weigh things too long and never make a move.  Wow…I thought to myself.  That’s it in a nutshell.  And at the time that we met and he told me these words, I was certain that I was destined to be the next Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn or Ella Fitzgerald – but my road to success was so full of strife and my performances were taking me know where fast because, only by luck and chance was I singing from my spirit.  Most performances were nervously executed with extreme difficulty and inner struggles for the very reason Kwame Adansi-Bona had told me.  In fact my entire life as a single person was filled with apprehension, disorganization and over-analyzation.

Astrology is a science.  An Astrologer believes that God is not haphazard, that the time, place and date of your arrival is significant to the position that you are meant to play on God’s Universal Team.  We’ve all got a part and we are all so influenced by each other’s good and bad habits, television, movies, books, etc.  But, we are strongest when we understand how we should function at our fullest potential and even though we may not be there now, we have the opportunity to make it when we know where we are going. 

The Earth is divided into 12 phases which hold the energies of the different planets.  As it revolves around, the sun shines into each of those twelve divisions for 2 hours which make up our 24 hour day.  By the same token, the sun is also divided into 12 phases each representing a month and each month coinciding with a sign.  Hence, April is Aries, May is Taurus, etc.  An Astrologer believes in the energies attributed to each planet and each sign.  As the planets continue to revolve around the sun and turn on their axis, things happen in the world and in us.  If we can understand the energies at hand or predict what is coming we can create a relationship with the universe and reap the benefits of life.

Here is a season that we are in where “The Last are First”.  Here is a time when a man can be born in the projects or a trailer park, raised in an environment of extreme poverty, where the roads to success are the same as the roads to the slammer but can wind up a multi-millionaire.  This is the time that a Black Man became The 44th President of the United States.  During this season, The Deep South which served as the entryway of many a slave and continues today to house some of America’s poor was attacked by the strongest natural disaster to date leaving the dead in the streets, the week feeling helpless and the strong pulling the whole thing back together against all odds.  You take the lessons of Katrina anyway you like, it’s an event, you either grow and learn, complain and continue life as usual or you rise above your ashes and through your suffering born again.  During this same season Haiti, the only state born of a slave revolt experiences the worst Earthquake in human history to destroy its Capital City.  And finally this is the great season where unlikely characters put prejudices aside to respond to the call of Human Kindness. 

We’ve been arriving at this day for a long time.  Planetarily!  As an Astrologer who understands that we are in the beginning of The Age of Aquarius I know that you must watch the planet which rules this sign to understand where we are going as a people.  And, when studying the Astrology Charts of our historical past I also pay attention to slow moving planets, Neptune, Pluto and Saturn.  But, for the purpose of this post, I’m going to only focus on Uranus.  Uranus is currently in the sign of Pisces.  Uranus is a slow moving planet which remains in one sign for 7 years taking 87 years to return.  The last time Uranus was in Pisces was in 1920 for approximately 7 years during the period of The Black Renaissance, The founding of The National Negro League and The Women’s Suffrage Victory.  Like today, music and art lead the charge turning everyday people into household names.  Go back 87 years and we recall Black Wall Street of Tulsa Oklahoma and the beginning of the woman’s rights movement in 1848 with the first meeting in New York again when Uranus was in Pisces like today.  These times not only account for great beginnings they also account for destruction bringing about change as in the Massacre at Black Wall Street that happened in June of 1921 when again Uranus was in Pisces and The Red Summer of 1919 when there were an unpresidented number of  racial uprisings.  These planetary configurations, historically account for periods of growth and change, where the so-called underdogs have the oppertunity to state their claim.  This time I feel something different.  This time we have come a long way, this time feels so permanent and my prediction is that a new breed of fearless intellect is emerging.  One who is quick thinking.  Easily adaptable.  Challenging and free-thinking.  This is the leader of tomorrow.  One who knows and loves who he is, has compassion for his fellow-man and sumonses his emotions to communicate love but depends only on logic to guide his movements.

As a scientist, I was compelled to see the planetarry configuration during the 1960’s, free-love, power movement, liberation-movement, woman’s movement, etc and compare.  Uranus was in Virgo.  I want so badly to go on about this time as it too is an important period but we are currently focusing on Uranus in Pisces and I want to stay focused.  And, although the 1960’s also represented a strong period in our world’s history it does not diminish the fact that the Uranus/Pisces combination has proven to affect change in the hearts and minds of people around the world.  Causing people if only for a moment to take a look at themselves.  To recognize and learn about the battered-people through the beauty of music and arts, at times translating itself into great wealth and human compassion.  Today we are emerging a people at best born again looking ahead at new possibilities as it is not just a neighborhood exploding with discontent but the whole status-quo.

What we do with this remains to be seen.
